In 2016, surveillance video obtained exclusively by CNN depicted a disturbing argument between Sean “Diddy” Combs and his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. The footage, taken from multiple angles and dated March 5, 2016, appears to support allegations made in a federal lawsuit Ventura filed in November of that year.

The video captured an incident that allegedly took place at the now-defunct InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. Ventura, leaving her hotel room, is chased down the hallway by Combs, who, wearing a towel, begins grabbing, pushing, and kicking her. The footage also shows Combs throwing objects at Ventura and acting aggressively.

Ventura declined to comment on the video, but her lawyer, Douglas H. Wigdor, called it “harrowing” and indicative of disturbing behavior by Combs. Combs, through his representatives, previously denied Ventura’s allegations.

The lawsuit filed by Ventura alleges abuse and manipulation during her relationship with Combs, which lasted from 2007 to 2018. Ventura alleged incidents of physical abuse, including an incident in which she was punched in the face, leaving her with a black eye.

The suit also accuses Combs of exercising control over Ventura both personally and professionally as she was signed to his label at the time. Ventura alleged that she suffered years of abuse, including being forced to perform sex acts with other men.

Although Combs denied the allegations, the lawsuit was settled shortly after it was filed. Details of the settlement have not been disclosed.

Combs has since faced additional civil lawsuits alleging sexual harassment and other illegal conduct. Despite his denials, the cases continue and authorities are searching his properties as part of a federal investigation into the allegations.

Combs’ lawyer criticized the searches as excessive and maintained Combs’ innocence, characterizing the investigation as a “witch hunt” based on unsubstantiated allegations. As the trial continues, the allegations against Combs raise important questions about accountability and the treatment of women in both personal and professional relationships.
